Team Sanoodi is delighted to be taking part in this year's Three Peaks Race. Skipper, Noel Bristow, was one of the sailors on Freedom last year and has decided that this year he should have a go in his own boat, "the food was that bad!". Yacht Tapestry is a Buchanan 27 based on the Menai Strait and has been sailed extensively on the West Coast of Britain. Sailing with him are Chris Ayres, a qualified IFGMA and BMG Mountain Guide retired from guiding who now sails more than he climbs. He rates one of his best voyages as sailing around Ireland in his Sadler 25. It's his first time for the 3 Peaks Race, "it will be a fitting celebration of turning 60". Also sailing is Andrew "Lenny" Lovatt, ex-climber, "I would miss the bus if I ran for it". Now a freelance outdoor education instructor who specialises in throwing kids off cliffs! All three met and climbed through Bangor University Mountaineering Society. Latterly they have all sailed and raced together. Heading up the runners is Jo Proudlove, a triathlete who completed the UK Ironman last year and will be competing in The Jurassic Coast Challenge 78 mile trail run in readiness for those hills. Running with Jo is Rob Westaway from London, Rob is bravely standing in for Dan Morgan who is currently injured (ouch!).
